When Marvel first start doing the movies and people debated would it be successful or would it fail, that argument so far is a clear WIN for Marvel & now Disney. Having seen all the Marvel Movies to date I noticed something and maybe its just me, but a common thread starting in each phase. Starting in Thor with showing of Odin’s Trophy room. Sure it had lots of cool things like The Eternal Flame, The Infinity Gauntlet, The Warlock’s Eye, The Orb of Agamatto (setting up Dr. Strange?) and the Tablet of Life. Now in phase 2 with the avengers kicking it off what does Loki use? A gem powered staff that appears to take control of someone’s mind… Still asking what i’m getting at? Here we go: in the Thor: Dark World trailer Natalie Portman’s character mentions reality is being torn apart… What does any of the items mentioned above and a mind gem and reality issues mean? Well The infinity gauntlet was powered by 6 gems giving its owner god like powers, the gems are: mind, strength, time, space, soul and you guessed it reality… And with Thanos being introduced at end of AVENGERS…. seems to me we heading towards the Infinity Gauntlet story line, which if your not familiar with was a six-issue comic book by Marvel in 1991 and was written by Jim Starlin and penciled by George Pérez and Ron Lim. The story is simply put Thanos who is obsessed with Death collects all the gems becoming a god and kills halve the population of the universe to appease her… surviving heroes band together to stop him. Carnage ensues and the good guys finally win reversing the whole event. Since Infinity Gauntlet has been my favorite story ever i’m excited that the possibility of this is coming… talk about a slow build up (years and many movies)… something Josh Whedon is great at – the mini stories culminating into a larger one…. Basically if Adam Warlock (A major player in Infinity Gauntlet) shows up in the Guardian of the Galaxy movie… then infinity gauntlet can’t be far behind….
