I wonder where your heart has gone
It took your courage like the sun takes the night at dawn
Left you sitting self-absorbed in the corner
Shaking in despair, self admittedly a goner
No more spark to light behind your eyes
Drowned out by the darkness, your insufferable cries
Lost and alone, you’ve given up
Tormented to the point where you’ve gotten yourself stuck
Cannot fall, will not stand
Clogged in the hour-glass, a clot of sand
Life it moves on, but time it stands still
An obstruction at best, you’ve bartered your will
Close your eyes and pray for death
Still you draw another breath
Caught in a whirlpool of complex emotions
Torn between your love of self and other devotions
Split down the middle, leaking out on the floor
Unable to believe you can take anymore
Pause for a moment my friend, don’t give up hope
Clearly you’ve reached the end of your rope
Take solace in the fact that I bear witness
To all of your life, the joy and the sadness
I may not be part of your plans
But at least in me, you’ve found someone who understands
